Our Mission

To shelter out-of-town families in medical crisis.

Our new house, opened in March 2008, is located at 1400 Scott Avenue, near Carolinas Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital. We provide a nurturing place for out-of-town guests to stay free of charge while their loved one receives medical care at these hospitals. Guests are referred to us by the hospitals, and are welcome regardless of the patient’s age or diagnosis. Hospitality House is open 365 days a year and is staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Services for the guests are free and are funded entirely through charitable donations. In its 23 years of service, Hospitality House of Charlotte has served more than 32,000 people from 49 states and 28 countries.

More Than Just a Bed

Guests who have stayed at Hospitality House know that it is more than just a place to sleep. As one guest described it, Hospitality House is a “port in a storm.” The organization’s home is a place where families from very different backgrounds, from all over the country and the world not only stay, but also find comfort and emotional support in each other and the “home away from home” atmosphere that Hospitality House offers.
