Friday, Sept 12 (6-9pm), Saturday, Sept 13 (10 am-4 pm)
This year's tour, which has a long tradition of celebrating the beauty and historical integrity of homes in one of Charlotte's oldest neighborhoods and its very first suburb, features 8 Dilworth homes and 3 businesses.
The 2008 Home Tour showcases a broad spectrum of home styles mixing older, traditional homes that have been elegantly preserved with historic homes that have undergone modern interior renovations and adaptations. There are also some new homes on the tour which demonstrate that historic architecture does not mean sacrificing contemporary styles and features.
The Hospitality House, which shelters out-of-town families in medical crisis who's loved ones are in Carolinas Medical
Center and Presbyterian Hospital, is also featured on this year's tour. The new
building location opened in March 2008 and was designed by Dilworth
resident and architect John Fryday of Fryday and Doyne Architecture.
